NOTE: DUE TO COVID-19 PRACTICES ARE ON HOLD FOR SCHOOL GYMS. THE CITY OF EDMONTON WILL BE ADVISING MID TO LATE OCTOBER. Teams are welcome to practice outdoors. City Green Spaces are open for anyone to use.

Mini’s U4 – U7:

The Mini Program is ran by the West Zone. Teams play once a week mid-October thru early February.

The development of any athlete starts with physical literacy and their ability to run, skip and jump. So, the first 20 minutes of each game consist of skills and drills, including, Physical Literacy – The ABCs of movement (Agility, Balance and Coordination). These are key components to focus on, and help teach utilizing the ball. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child.

Volunteer coaches are supplied a coaching course, free of charge, for this age group. They will be shown age appropriate Skills & Drills, often done through game play with the ball.

A 30-minute game is then played, with two 15-minute halves. Field dimensions are reduced and rules of the game are limited to enable the players to continue to focus their attention on developing movement patters, rather then game and tactics.

U4 & U5’s: Play at the St.Francis Xavier Sports Center.

U7’s: Play at the West Soccer Center.

U9 & U11:

Teams play once a week from Mid October thru early February. IF teams qualify, they may play into March. They will also have 1 weeknight practice per week.

The Rules of Indoor Soccer are revised to help players grow into the larger field. They play with a retreat line, and an additional player as they transition into full Indoor Rules.
