U4, U5, U7 EMSA West Mini Coaches Info
U4 & U5 Community Spring Soccer Program
Teams play once a week from the end of April through to the end of June. (Weather Permitting)
U5 – some communities play twice a week.
The development of any athlete starts with physical literacy and their ability to run, skip and jump. So, the first 30 minutes of each game consist of skills and drills, including, Physical Literacy – The ABCs of movement (Agility, Balance and Coordination). These are key components to focus on and help teach utilizing the ball. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children.
Volunteer coaches are supplied with a coaching course, free of charge, for this age group. They will be shown age-appropriate drills and skills, often done through gameplay with the ball.
A 30-minute game is then played, with two 15-minute halves. Field dimensions are reduced, and rules of the game are limited to enable the players to continue to focus their attention on developing movement patterns, rather than on the game and tactics.
