U4 & U5 Community Soccer Program
Teams play once a week from the start of May through the end of June (weather permitting).
The development of any athlete starts with physical literacy and their ability to run, skip and jump. So, the first 30 minutes of each game consist of skills and drills, including Physical Literacy – ABCs of movement (Agility, Balance and Coordination). These are key components to focus on and help teach utilizing the ball. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children during skills and drills.
EMSA West provides volunteer coaches with free training for this age group. They will be shown age-appropriate drills and skills, often performed through gameplay with the ball.
A 30-minute game is then played, with two 15-minute halves. Field dimensions are reduced, and the rules of the game are limited to enable the players to focus on developing movement patterns rather than game and tactics.

EMSA West encourages coaches to ensure all players have equal playing time and an opportunity to play all positions equally.
